Journaling (and there is a LOT):
Our spontaneous trip to Wild Dunes was the answer to a little four-year-old girl’s wish. Just a few days before, Elizabeth had declared that she wanted to go to the beach again (even though we had been in late spring). Not knowing the future, I replied that she would have to wait until next year. Wade came home on Monday and said Tommy wasn’t going to his beach house the following week and wanted to know if we wanted to use it. Did I even need to think about that? We left the following Friday with two very happy and excited kids!
We arrived Friday (Oct 1) evening around eight. The next morning we got up and were at the shore by 10:30 – high tide, should have known! It seems we inevitably arrive at the beach at high tide. Because of the many hurricanes that had hit the Eastern coast this year, the coast was badly eroded. I had never seen it like this. We visited the playground that evening at the Wild Dunes resort. On Sunday we had better luck at the beach and stayed for a long time. Elizabeth declared as she played in the water, “I have a new friend. The water is my friend. We have been playing together!” The next day we saw four dolphins while playing in the water. Elizabeth and Andrew were excited! They were quite close and had a parade of followers along the water's edge. That evening we drove to Sullivan’s bridge to look for the dolphins that were supposed to be regulars there. No luck but the next day we tried again and saw two. Tuesday (Oct 5) was our last day at the beach. It was comical to see Andrew push the toy dump truck we found in the utility closet all the way to the shore. We had to wind up our vacation with our infamous “pool” we build by digging loads of sand out of a hole and then fill it with water. The kids always enjoy this! We left on Wednesday and were sad to leave; however, we had a great time and were fortunate to be given the chance to go!

Love how you took pictures "along the way". It really captures how he literally pushed it all the way to the shore! Great colors for the pictures too! You do an amazing job!
