Reminisce designs (www.designsbyreminisce.com) – “The Tooth Fairy,” “Dental Stripes,” and “A Day at the Dentist,” cardstock by Bazzill, rub-ons by Making Memories, foam alpha stamps by Duncan Enterprises, acrylic paint by DecoArt, transparency, font is Arial.
Journaling: As I brushed Elizabeth’s teeth on Tuesday night, her lower front tooth fell out! I immediately saw the blood and it had fell between her gums and lower lip. She did not even know it happened. We discovered back in May that it was loose while visiting the dentist for a cleaning. I had noticed just two days prior just how loose it had become.
Wade was working that night. I asked Elizabeth if she wanted to call him. She said, “You call him, Momma. I’m too excited!” Afterward, we got out the sterling silver tooth fairy holder that Mrs. Dallas gave me when I was pregnant with Elizabeth. I thought the day would never come to use it! Elizabeth didn’t even want to touch her lost tooth at first. Andrew had wanted me to turn off the hall light that night because the thought of a “fairy” in our house scared him. He thought “the tooth fairy would be afraid to come down the hall” with the light out. Hoping the tooth fairy would bring one dollar so she could “get something at Silver Dollar,” the tooth fairy carefully folded, rolled and slipped TWO dollars inside the holder in place of the tooth.
Wednesday night at church, she was like a buzzing bee running to all her friends (and their parents) to show the hole in her mouth and to announce she received “two dollars!” holding up two fingers. Many of the older people predictably replied, “The tooth fairy has gone up since I was a kid” and “I was lucky to get a quarter!”
When I went in to pick Elizabeth up from school a week and a half later, she was excited because she had just finished drinking her whole juice box with the straw stuck in the new hole in her mouth. Anything to get a laugh! Just the Sunday prior to that day we were on our way home from Nana and Papaw’s house and out of the blue she said, “Maybe God made my tooth fall out because I worked so hard and won at Bible school.”
