Can I start off by saying that this is a ho-hum photo of me but I love the ones of Elizabeth & Andrew!!
Elizabeth -“This is my favorite place, Mom.”
Me -“Do you like it here?”
Elizabeth -“Yeah, I like it!” (In the tone of “Are you crazy?!!”)
We left around 5:30 hoping the kids would sleep part of the trip. Elizabeth said she couldn’t get comfortable in her car seat to sleep on the trip to Wild Dunes Resort, so I let her lay on the back seat. Wade had to rub Andrew’s leg for over an hour and finally had to let me drive to hold him for the last hour. Mommy wouldn’t do this time! Elizabeth snuck the potty seat up on the seat & used it unbeknownst to us. When we arrived at Wild Dunes looking for our beach house, she had to go and was whining and pulling her pants down. I tried to slow down enough before hitting a speed bump since she was not buckled. She did a flip in the air and landed in the floor. (Potty spilled in the van too – yuck!) The kids only slept about an hour on the 6 hour trip! 4.20.03
After breakfast the first morning we went to the beach, Elizabeth loved it. At first Andrew was afraid and had to be held. Elizabeth would taunt the tide. She quickly became engaged in using her sand pail and shovels. This is the day we built our “fort.” Wade and I directed a tunnel into the inside of it where Andrew was playing. Soon it filled up with water at high tide; he was not too happy! 4.21.03
The next day we went to the Citadel Mall. Later we visited the playground at the resort and walked around with the kids in the strollers. We walked on the beach for a while too. 4.22.03
Was this the morning we got up and went to the beach for low tide? It was COLD – later found out it was 55 degrees. We had on jackets on but with shorts. Elizabeth saw a couple of jellyfish. We found the perfect shell (large conch shell) but an animal was still alive in it. I threw it back into the ocean - my good deed for the day. That evening we went to Charleston to eat at Hyman’s Seafood, stopped in a candy store and bought us all some bonbons. Andrew especially loved them. We had a very enjoyable last evening walking around. Wade and I put the kids to bed that night and began preparations to leave the next morning. 4.23.03
