This was a another layout that I started a long time ago and then was completed about a month ago. I scanned it last month and finally stitched it last week. It's just about when my dh got his new truck back in July of 2004.
Journaling:
Wade had wanted a truck before we were married. At the time we were hoping Granddaddy Clemmons was going to buy us one for a wedding present but he soon realized that then he would be buying two more (for Tollette and Ben when they were married). We could not afford a new vehicle any time soon so Wade had to put that dream on hold. Soon, before I graduated from ETSU in 1999, he bought me a ’98 Chevrolet Blazer. Two years later, he ordered me a new Chrysler Town and Country minivan. Needless to say, he put his wife first and was personally long overdue for his dream ride. With our van almost paid off, he began wanting to look at the different dealerships’ lots and talk about all the different choices in trucks. He decided that a Ford F-150 was what he wanted. Finally, after seeing that pining in my husband’s eye for way too long, one night while at Ramey Ford in Johnson City, I told him to just get it. That’s right. I said, “Wade, let’s just get you one. You deserve it. You work hard and have always given me the ‘good car.’ It’s time you had what you wanted.” Even though he could have decided long before to get one and I would have been fine with it, he needed that push - that approval. Immediately, it seemed a bout of giddiness overtook him and he was quickly deciding what he had to have! It was exciting to see my dear husband getting what he had wanted for over eight years. It was too late to order a 2004 because the 2005 were due out anytime and it was too soon to order a 2005. A couple of days later, after prayers for the Lord’s will, the dealership was able to find one after an extensive search with everything he wanted as close as Knoxville. He got up early the next morning and drove there to see if it was exactly what he wanted before it was transported to Johnson City. Thankfully, it was and that evening he was able to drive home his new truck. I must admit that I was sort of jealous – heated leather seats, a sunroof (although my Blazer had one, my van did not), a six CD disc changer, etc. Now, he has the “better car” but I am more than happy for him. At last he has what he deserves! July 24, 2004
