lately after looking at the new magazines I feel depressed. I loved the scrapping looks from a couple of years ago, and find that the "new graphic styles" are not me! How can I incorporate SOME of that? I love the matting and journeling with out the 'magazine page feel. :???:

One of the things we've touched on before here is that you should scrap the way you want - simple or not. I like simple and a more graphic or stream-lined look (for now!) but to get away from that I guess you can just arrange your photos away from the straight lines. Put your photos at an angle. Double or triple mount your focal photo. The great thing about scrapbooking is that it's like any art - there is no "set" way. Sure there are "rules" (such as the "rule of thirds") that apply to things but you don't have to use them.

I meant to ask - does that sort of answer your question?

Thanks for replying.. I know we all need to stay true to our own style, but I sometimes feel that my pages will seem 'dowdy' to trendy scrappers. It's not that I dislike the graphic looks... it doesn't feel 'homey' to me. LOL Boy does that make me sound backward! I guess I just need a nudge out of my RUT. and yes I am laughing at my self. Hmmm I just need more coffee and chocolate this am.

I understand what you mean about feeling "homey." That's one reason why I like to do machine stitching on my LOs - I think it makes it feel/look more hand-made! Maybe you could challenge yourself on your next few LOs and do something different to get out of your rut!

ok this weekend after "TAXES", I took the time to do a LO in a new style for me. I think I need to do more experimenting. It was fun, and my Hubby loved the new look. I can't scan in 12x12.. sorry for the crooked photo angle. ;-)

It is fun to experiment! I always enjoy trying new products, techniques or even pp that I normally wouldn't buy. TFS your work!
