The photos I have from before I went digital are in photo boxes, labeled by year and then labeled inside by date, where the photos were taken and any special ocassions. Since I have a digital camera now, I keep about 2-3 months worth on the computer then save it to a CD then after I have about a year's worth on a CD, I put them on a DVD since a DVD is more stable and longer lasting.

Patty, I've heard so many horror stories of people leaving all their digital prints in their computer and then their computer crashing and losing it all. I have my dh keep a copy of our photos at his office too in case of a fire at our house. I would still lose my printed photos from way back before I had a digital camera though. I don't know what is the best thing to do about storing them as far as keeping them safe. Should I keep the negatives at another location? I got my digital camera three years ago so I would lose photos of my kids when they were born and all those "firsts." That would be sad. Let's hope my house doesn't catch fire, of course, but I suppose we should still plan for things like that.

I have mine on CD and in a box. Leslie, I've heard that some people will make CDs of their photos and place them in their safety deposit box or a fire proof safe in their home.
