I was inspired by Patti's circle journal entry & it got me thinking. What better way to get to know each other here than a circle journal group. Plus, I've wanted to do something like this for a while. So, if there's enought interest I'll post the rules & rotation schedule for the group.

Could you give us more info? I've never done a CJ before but plenty of swaps in the past and I know how they can overwhelm you and take your time from actual scrapbooking. If there was a long enough turn around time then I would probably be game. Plus, since I think most of us are local, we wouldn't have to mail them but could use Croppers as a drop off point.

with a circle journal, each person chooses an album that is 8.5 x 8.5 or smaller. It can be post, strap, spiral bound (or anything else for that matter). You choose a theme for your circle journal, like your favorite color, dream vacation, or favorite photo. You can yet again choose any theme, just choose something that would be applicable to everyone in the group. You decorate the cover of your album (if you want), create a title page (stating the theme), create an intro page explaining your theme & any rules for the CJ, & last a sign in pg with enough room for everyone to sign their name. Then you create the first 2 pg spread in your circle journal.
We could leave a 2 week gap between rotations. Once I knew who would be interested, I would create a rotation schedule & post it here. CC could be used as the drop off point, since the group would be local. Hope this makes sense. I have a book specifically on CJs, if you'd like to look @ it Leslie. My friend Tania Willis wrote it & there are all kinds of ideas for a CJ in it.

Sounds good. I would be game if we could get more to sign up. I think I will try to make sure I don't stress out over it! LOL It's all for fun anyways, right? :)

I have been involved in four:
Group from 2peas (still waiting to get my CJ back after two years, good thing the girl that has it mails to me! I am patiently waiting!)
Group with DT members in Indiana (I have it and it's awesome if anyone wants to see it)
Group with friends across the country that I organized (in process)
Group from ScrapbookerOnline (just started and in progress)
As you can tell I have had some experience with CJ's LOL!!! I would love to answer any questions!
Now about this sign up: I AM GAME, I love that it is LOCAL!
Add me to the list!

This will be soooo much fun. I'm going to go in & pull out my CJ Idea Book. I'll leave this up until tomorrow morning. Then I'll post a new thread with the rules / info & rotation schedule.
Patti - how long would you suggest between rotations???

Well in all my other groups we went with a month but then some people were in other countries.
I think that since it is local we could do every two weeks as long as everyone is COMMITTED to doing that. I tell you once someone keeps one for longer (much longer) than they should, it throws everything off.
I am good with two weeks. The thing is though that if we don't get enough gals interested we will be done in like two months. Of course we could do something more like a tag book instead of a album.
Do you all have some friends that might be interested in joining? I don't have any local, wish I did!

Since I totally don't know what we are doing, I'm going to throw out an idea. I have questions first. Does each person get an album (book, journal)? Do we have one theme or does each album(person) have a theme? Anyway, I'm asking because I would love to do a cookbook type thing where each person would add recipes. But like I said I really don't have any idea what a circle journal is.

Pamela I LOVE that idea! I think it would be a great way to start!

Each person will have their own album & they will pick their own theme. You will create the title page, rule/info pg & sign in pg for your own album, along with the first 2pg LO (or you can create your's @ the end). There will be a rotation schedule we will follow (i.e.: Leslie - Patty - Trina - Pamela - ME. I'd send to Leslie). You create a 2 pg LO in each person's album, according to the theme they picked. Then you pass it to the next person. Eventually you get your album back, completed by everyone. It's a great way to get to know friends.
Patti - I agree, 5 is still too few. Maybe Leslie's crop group might be interested????? IF not, we'll figure something out. If everyone wanted a month, we could do that. It would make it last longer & give plenty of time.

I could ask my monthly scrapping friends if they are interested. I'll shoot them an email today.
Pamela, you could have a "recipe" theme for your CJ. People could put in their favorite main meal and dessert recipe and maybe include a photo to go with it. I think that would be an awesome idea!

I did send an email today to my monthly groups' website regarding this and briefly explaining what it would intail. I also gave a link to this thread. I just said to let me know soon if anyone is interested. Do we know when we would like to start OR are we just kind of hanging on until we get more interest?

Pamela, there was a girl in one of my CJ groups that did a recipe album and it turned out really nice!!
Everything sounds good to me so whenever you all want to start is fine!
I wish I could think of someone local but I really don't know anyone that is 'into' scrapping like we are. Most people I know scrap occasionally and think I'm crazy! LOL

Yeah, Pamela, if you do the recipe album idea that you talked about then it might get me in gear to start the recipe album I've wanted to do for over a year!

Oh I'm doing that as my theme FOR SURE! I thought if everyone wanted to do that it could go through rotation more than once. Just a thought :)
Leslie, I've wanted to do a recipe album for a while now and I'm excited because it won't only be my favorite recipes but my fellow scrapper's favorite recipes too.

You'll have to let us know if you or your dh has any food allergies or restrictions too. I know I have some and so do Trina. If I was doing a recipe theme for my CJ, I might ask that people not include recipes that I couldn't cook.

That's true. Sorry, I guess since we don't have any I don't think about it. I'll have to keep that in mind. Thanks :)
