I'm a lists sort of person. I like to write things down. It gives me something to look @ and see that I am actually getting things done. I even write down my dreams & goals sometimes (but then they get tucked or thrown away). I find I get more done when I have a list or goal written down, I'm more motivated to get it accomplished.

I was looking @ the LOs on another website & found a LO that spoke to me on so many levels. IT got me thinking about the dreams & personal goals that I have. The ones that NEVER seem to get accomplished because they are lost in the everyday chaos of life.

So, I thought it would be fun to see if everyone wanted to do a fun little challenge. Everyone who participates must create a LO about a dream(s) or goal(s) they have for their personal life. Be real, think about something you'd love to see happen in the (near) future for yourself. Think about what it would take to make it happen & write out a "plan of action" to include on your LO. You must also include a photo of yourself somewhere on the LO.

I've included a link to the LO that inspired me to create a LO on this subject.

We'll make the Challenge deadline Saturday, September 16 - which gives us just over 3 weeks to complete the LO if anyone is interested.

Oh, and you don't have to post your journaling if it's personal.

Here's an overview of the rules (in case some of you play):
- must create a LO about a personal dream(s) or goal(s)
- must include a photograph of yourself (not hidden) on the page
- must include journaling (can be hidden)
- must include a "plan of action" (can be hidden)

I'm really excited about this, looking forward to seeing if anyone else wants to participate.

Oh, Brianna, you know I'll bite!! :-P

That is an awesome LO - love the red paint dots (think she used a pencil eraser?) and her file folder. I think I'll do a few of my goals for this one. AND I may even do a 8.5x11 format b/c when I do my AAM album I want to do that format.

I just quickly typed a list of five things that are true goals for me. Things I want to accomplish or seriously take to heart within the next five years. You said "near future" is five years good? Yep, I'm excited about this. It may get me jump started on my AAM that I've wanted to start for three years now. Hmmm. . . maybe that should be a goal!! LOL J/K

I think 5 years in a great time frame - mine is set within the next 5 years too. I LOVE the file folder look - I just got some a few weeks ago that I'm really wanting to play with, so I'm going to incorporate it into my LO. The LO doesn't have to be lifted though - I just linked it for inspiration.

I would say she probably used a pencil eraser for the red dots - so cool.

I'm really excited to do this LO.

I'm up for this one too. Maybe I can use the photos from the other challenge with this LO. Thanks Brianna.

I was thinking the same thing too Pamela

So, how's everyone coming on the challenge? anyone start / finish their LO yet? I've got some ideas for mine, but I haven't done anything yet. Been concentrating on other things today. I'm going to try to get my camera out tomorrow & play around with the photography challenge. Might see if I can get a good "self portrait" for this challenge too.

I've decided to do a personal goal since my life goals are on hold or depend on when we get our daughter. I haven't started on the LO but I'm forming the LO in my head and gathering materials.

I typed out five personal goals the night you presented the challenge. I've been "writing" in my mind how I want to write it on paper. No design has come to mind yet though. I'm wanting to start this maybe this weekend. I've been busy cleaning my house over the weekend and the last two days for my jewelry party tonight. (6:30 - remember!! ;))

Well, sorry that I posted my LO early but it was completed and I had to mark it off my list. LOL TFL!

Well, I just finished typing all of my journaling for my layout. Now to figure out how to make it all fit on a LO as well as a photo of me and some nice design. I have almost a filled page of typing - single spaced. Any great ideas of how to include that much journaling? I could just do a small book that you can take out to look at. Now is the time I wish I had a wide-format printer!! :D

You could break it up onto several tags or something.

I could also help you with the "wide format" thing - @ the next crop if you'd like. The challenge doesn't end until the following weekend. JLMK.

As I laid in bed last night at midnight still suffering from too much caffeinated tea for supper (I ate out last night w/a friend and forgot what I was drinking!!), I had ideas running through my mind. I thought about doing some type of file folder like the inspiration LO and slipping my journaling in there, keeping it loose so it would be easy for the reader to pull out. I don't know. I've done the tag thing before for other LOs so I was thinking I would like to try something different. I just don't want a person to have to pull the whole LO out to read the journaling but I think including all the journaling on the LO in view would be too much. Just thinking out loud here! ;)

Leslie, I like the file folder idea and trying something new. Plus, this LO is about and for you. YOUR goals/dreams.

Wide format? stretching the words/type?

Okay, I started the background of my LO tonight!! LOL I made a card to get my creative juices flowing and loved how it turned out so I am doing my LO for the challenge sort of like it. I still have to figure out how I'm going to fit everything in. AND I need to see if I have a decent photo of me to put on it or have someone take one.

Well, still haven't started on my LO, but I'm going to do it.......really, I am. I've got everything I want to use, just need to use it to make my LO. Can't wait to see everyone's LOs.

I had the perfect opportunity to work on it more last night but thought maybe I should wait until the last minute. I seem to work better under pressure most of the time! LOL

I've got to work on a few things for the store (so excited about getting to say that- I feel like Leslie  ) before I can start. I think I may just wait until the SB Crop @ BRBC - I'm coming this time - DH promised & he's got the night FREE just for me. Then I'll have a few hours to really focus on the LO, plus I'll know exactly what to bring to complete the LO - so I won't have to pack EVERYTHING to the church.

I'm so excited about the product I'm using on this LO - I'm actually mixing up different patterns from different companies - love this look, but I've never really been confident enough to "pull it off" or even try it for that matter. So excited about this. Plus I got some new ink to play with. I love ink, esp. those little ColorBox ones. They are perfect for inking the edges of paper & little elements on a pg. Distressing is probably my all time favorite techniue, followed closely by sewing. I wanted to sew on my LO too, BUT I accidentally broke my needle & I need to find my manual to get the part number to replace it, so I'm not sure if I'll get to use it on the pg or not.

I love the ColorBox Fluid Chalk! I never pull out the ink pads anymore. They are so portable I love them...I hope Rhonda starts carrying more. Brianna have you tried the Making Memories um...edge scrapper? ( I think that's what it's called) For distressing?

BriannaL

No, Heidi Swapp has one - CC carries it in store, I think. I use the sanding blocks from WM to sand my paper.

I love the fluid chalk too. It would be awesome if CC started carrying more of them.

I finished up my projects & I'm free to work on my Challenge LO. I'm hoping to get to work on it some tomorrow or maybe even tonight......I took some self portraits, so I'm hoping that at least one of them turned out for me to use on this LO. If not, I've got some time before the challenge is over to try again.

Pamela - have you ever tried the edge scrappers to distress paper? If so, do they work well?

I have a MM one and have tried it. The results look like you took a straight blade and ran it down the edge of your paper. If you would like to take it home and try it out, I'll bring it to the BRBC. I hope this helps.

I think I may just get the Heidi Swapp one the next time I'm in the store. It's not much & anything that distresses paper must be good -right

I have wanted to try where they just score the paper with a scoring blade and then tear it to get that look. My Fiskars cutter came with a scoring blade that I sometimes use for card making.

I did find a couple of photos of me from Easter and in Feb that I edited and am going to print. I edited them different ways to see how I want to use them when the time comes - color, B&W, sepia and I added a filter to one to make it look like an "old timey" photo. ;)
